Making Flight Data Monitoring and HUMS Work for Your Operation
Wednesday, 20 September, 1400-1500
Stan Rose will moderate a panel discussion on health and usage monitoring systems (HUMS) and flight data monitoring (FDM). Many in the rotorcraft industry recognize the operational and safety benefits of these technologies. But some operators, particularly small ones, resist investing in them. They argue that potential benefits don’t justify the costs in terms of acquisition, labor and time. This session will examine a number of issues, including:
- The April 2018 FAA mandate for FDM installations in helicopter air ambulances.
- Recent successes and failures in the application of FDM and HUMS
- Short-term potential for FDM- and HUMS-based improvements in engines, aircraft and systems and operational costs.
Speakers Include:
- Ed Stockhausen, Director of Safety, Metro Aviation
- Peter Henrikson, President, Truth Data
- Francois Lassale, Operations Director, HeliOffshore
